During the presentation of the thematic lecture, nephrologist Prof. Dr. Lutfi Zylbeari said the global campaign this year is focused on the importance and impact of female kidney disease. "Not coincidentally this year's motto is “Kidneys and women's health” .The campaign is devoted to the raising of global awareness of the importance of female diseases. According to the latest data I possess as a nephrologist in the Republic of Macedonia near 1700, plus - minus 50 patients, have undergone various hemodialysis modalities ranging from bicarbonate, peritoneal, hemodialysis, etc., while around 340 patients with transplanted kidneys. Unfortunately, in the last two years transplantation in Macedonia has stalled for objective reasons, while ten years ago transplantation was higher. Back then, the cadaveric transplant was very widespread, but in recent years this type of transplant has been reduced leaving the transplantation site to family members” – said Prof. Dr. Lutfi Zylbeari.

World Kidney Day, as usual, is celebrated every year. This time activities for marking this date have started since March 8th, International Women's Day, because it consists with female diseases. World Kidney Day is scheduled to be celebrated on the second Thursday of March and is celebrated worldwide by the World Association for Nephrology, Dialysis, Transplantation and Artificial Organs.
