During the days of marking the 104th anniversary of Çanakala’s liberation, which took place on 18-19 March, a debate on “Perspectives on Higher Education and the Future of Turkey and the Balkans” was organized at the “18 March” University of Canakkale.
Among the high academic personalities of different countries of the world, the University of Tetova was represented by Prof. Dr. Adnan Ismaili, professor and head of the Oriental Philology in UT. He spoke on the topic “The Future of Turkey and the Balkans through a Qualitative Higher Education”. During his discussion, he said that he was delighted in participating in the debate and events of the anniversary, saying: “By visiting the cemetery of the Canakkale martyrs coming from Skopje, Janina, Sarajevo and Shkodra, it is impossible not to be excited. Regarding the topic of discussion, he added: “Turkey with its one-year-old disconnection from educational activities in the Balkans has a great delay, so it will have to be discussed about how this gap can be fulfilled and how to find new solutions”.
This topic aroused interest among the many students that were present in this debate as well as the academic staff of the university who admirably followed the debate.
In fact, Prof. Ismaili was the only protocol guest invited by North Macedonia in this anniversary, while the commemoration ceremony (18 March) was attended by senior personalities of the political and public life of many countries of the world addressed by the President of the Republic Turkey, R.T.
