Student Parliament of the University of Tetova, in cooperation with students and professors of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature of the University of Tetova, marked the April 23rd, World Book Day.

In honor of this day, initially by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, and UT Student Parliament President Donika Kamberi, were inaugurated the bookshelves distributed in the University campus. Then, in the open premises of UT, was promoted the magazine “Përtej” prepared by the students of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology of UT.

To the participants in this promotion with occasion speech addressed the Student Parliament President of our University, Donika Kamberi, who said that Student Parliament has so far given special importance to all activities, especially the dates that mark important events, such as today’s event. “The World Book Day makes us aware of the importance of the book as the most powerful instrument for the changing the mankind. Student Parliament on the calendar of activities marks the most important dates and reconfirms the commitment for the goals in raising the most essential values without which human life would be empty. Today, with marked activities we remember with the deepest respect all the people of pen and knowledge who shone our way”- said the Student Parliament President of our University, Donika Kamberi.

Head of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature, Doc. Dr. Berton Sulejmani said that the department he leads and its members, beside the many activities they carry out, including the publication of the magazine “Përtej” that have taken an initiative for the inclusion of the Albanian language as an obligatory subject in all the faculties of the University of Tetova, for which they have received the support of the Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti. “The first issue of the student magazine “Përtej” was promoted in 2013. Editors-in-chief were: Albulena Zulbehari and Lugina Ajro. This magazine primarily includes student work, and any work by the professors of the department. Each year was published an issue of it. In 2015 it was not published, but in 2016 the students of the Department, under the auspices of Doc. Dr. Salajdin Salihu, have published two issues of the student magazine and thus filled the gap of 2015” – said Doc. Dr. Berton Sulejmani.

For the latest issue of the magazine “Përtej” which was promoted today, spoke the editor-in-chief of this student magazine, student Kaltrinë Sadiki. She said that “Përtej” is an albanological student magazine which includes topics from language and literature, poetry, short prose, thoughts, studies, interviews and many other things that are appealing not only to students of Albanian language and literature but to others also. “This magazine holds the name “Përtej” because it’s beyond ordinary, contains art, poetry, pictures, languages…. This issue is the continuation of two issued published a few years ago. We wish to be prosperous and to provide the magazine longevity. The magazine is divided into several sections that include many values and provides a magazine that aims to improve and to be perfected every day, by giving a chance to each student to find himself in the field that most often rests in his soul and for which he most desires to contribute; whether it is the ability to conduct interviews, whether it is the ability to do good literature studies or the ability to look at things with a critical eye, choice of materials, editing or even their talent to write prose, essay or poetry, and the opportunity through this magazine to mark the initiative of their affirmations, by wishing to achieve the peaks of success”- said the editor-in-chief of this student magazine, student Kaltrinë Sadiki.

The magazine “Përtej” includes the heading of interviews, the ideal library, a little bit of imaging in the heading titled “How others see us” as well as the language heading “Albanian word instead of foreign word”. The magazine includes translations, stories, poetries and student research. This activity was enriched with a poem by a student of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature, Melek Sulejmani and an interpretation in violin by the student of the Department of Music of the Faculty of Arts, Zana Zumeri.
