University of Tetova, in cooperation with its international strategic partner, Northern Illinois University, organized the 2nd Scientific Conference called: “Global problems and community practices at the local, national and international level in promotion of peace and transcultural communication”.

The conference held its proceedings in the premises of the Northern Illinois University and on behalf of the University of Tetova and Rector, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, science workers were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Hazir Pollozhani, who shared his ideas with the audience about the organization, emphasizing: “ This 2nd Scientific Conference organized by the Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication, is definitely an excellent opportunity for us to exchange ideas, information and views on how to become a democratic society based on the American model. It provides also opportunities to identify and solve existing societal problems. American role in Macedonia is very important in every segment, because through specific projects it helps the complex processes not only political but economical and educational also”- said the Vice-Rector for Science of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Hazir Pollozhani.

The host of this conference, Vice-Rector of the Northern Illinois University, Prof. Dr. Bradley Bond, said that their university appreciates the institutional partnership with the University of Tetova, as a representative of university education, scientific research, free debate and positive influence on the development of general processes in the Republic of Macedonia. “Our University highly appreciates the seriousness of the University of Tetova, now in the role of strategic partner. From all of the cooperation that we have with prestigious international universities, we distinguish the University of Tetova, because it’s the only institution that shows sincerity and correctness in any cooperation that we have and for this we are very grateful to the leaders of UT and in particular to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti”- said Prof. Dr. Bradley Brond.

This conference brought together researchers from various fields that through their elaborations explained how local decisions have a global impact and through debates concluded that peace and stability aren’t luxuries of the time, but are its need and an uncontested priority. In this case, it was assumed that the University of Tetova proactively and faster than others realized that the Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication is only one segment from which the democratization of national values will be imported, later to open the main gate of sharing of ideas, capacities and cultures. This scientific gathering gave a message that all democratic societies will be such only if they think globally and work locally.

Within this conference, researchers from various prestigious American universities, professors and students, along with representatives of the University of Tetova and the Northern Illinois University visited the Blackwell Museum, in which is opened the exhibition of the University of Tetova. During their stay in this museum, participants were surprised with the history of the University of Tetova through various facts and evidences, arguments that describe the history of the University of Tetova since its foundation until today. Students and professors from the United States were very surprised with the progress of the University of Tetova over the years and how after all these challenges they have managed to build its pro-Western and pro-American orientated vision. Exhibition of the University of Tetova at the Blackwell Museum was opened in December last year and will remain open until the end of the academic year, to move later in other locations within the university campus, and to be available again to students and visitors.
