It is a special honor for me and my staff at the University of Tetova to wish everyone a happy national holiday, November 28 – Albanian Flag Day and Independence Day.
November 28 is the day of century-old dream coming true, the realization of the great political, cultural and spiritual project. This national project had its predecessors, headed by our national hero, George Castriot Skanderbeg, who in 1443, in the old capital of Albania, Kruja, raised the two-headed black eagle flag.
Aware of this great time and its European testament, the founding fathers of the Albanian state chose exactly November 28, as the Second November of the Albanian Renaissance. In Vlora, on the day when Ismail Qemali declared the sacred decision, all the Albanian Renaissance representatives, dead and alive came together, because in that act were embodied the Albanian spirit and patriotism.
The historic decision of November 28, 1912, of the declaration of Albania’s Independence, was a coronation of battles and efforts of the entire constellations of patriots and intellectuals who shined throughout the Renaissance period.
With my warmest wishes, with the desire for our nation to have a prosperous, secure and bright future, I wish you all, a happy Flag Day and Independence Day.
