Today, at the University of Tetova, the Center for Counseling and Psychotherapy, Cortex, carried out a workshop with the senior students of the Psychology study program of the Faculty of Philosophy. The purpose of holding this workshop was to inform students about the performance of the “Gestalt Therapy” workshop. Through this workshop, students had the opportunity to view the practical work of the therapist psychologist and to get acquainted with the “Gestalt Therapy” approach in general.
The representative of Cortex Center, M.S. Sema Halili, first clarified that the term “Gestalt” is a German word and in Albanian is translated as: form, pattern, whole, configuration, or even a unified entity where elements cannot be separated from its parts and the whole cannot be thought of as a single sum.
Furthermore, during the presentation dedicated to “Gestalt Therapy”, she emphasized that the founder of this therapy is the famous German neuro-psychiatrist Fritz Perls, who considered this therapy to be humanistic, holistic, phenomenological, existential and therapeutic-oriented.
As M.S. Sema Halili, from the Cortex Counseling and Psychotherapy Center, stated, “Gestalt Therapy” aims to reintegrate parts of personality into a new entity, identify with alienated parts of one-self through ideas, emotions, and behaviors, and take into account maturity, growth and autonomy through raising awareness.
In this workshop some exercises were also conducted by students along with representatives of the Cortex Center.
