After the death of the university professor Prof. Dr. Flora Sela – Kastrati, on March 24, 2018, University of Tetova today on March 28, 2018, organized a commemorative meeting in commemoration of her life and work. In this meeting in front of the deceased family members, friends, colleagues, professors and students, the Rector of the University of Tetova Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti held a speech, who said that the death of the professor of the Faculty of Philosophy of our University, Prof. Dr. Flora Sela – Kastrati has been very difficult for all her colleagues and students, so we have gathered today here with her family and friends to honor the life and work of the deceased.

“Honorable Sela family, in these difficult days, we are all together with you to be part of the pain for your beloved one, the pain that has affected all of us at the University of Tetova. Professor Flora she passed away as a professor of higher education in Albanian language, as one of the respected lecturers in our institution, leaving us the best memory, especially we had the honor to have her in our academic staff. As a lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tetova, Prof. dr. Dr. Flora Sela – Kastrati, over the years has given valuable contribution to the education of entire generations, as well as has developed numerous activities as an activist of Albanian education, science and culture”- said the Rector of the University of Tetova Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti.

For the life and work of the deceased Prof. Dr. Flora Sela – Kastrati spoke the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tetova Prof. Dr. Ibish Kadriu, who in front of the audience evoked memories both from student life and from academic life. “Prof. Dr. Flora Sela – Kastrati, was a scholar, university professor, poet, writer, gender equality activist, guardian of the national cause, a clever analyst of sociological and philosophical problems, friend of all those who knew her. Suddenly she left us from this life, in early ages, when it was still needed to contribute to science, people and her family. Life often does its own, without asking about the wishes of many people who wanted to have professor Flora for many more years by their side” – said Prof. Dr. Ibish Kadriu.

On behalf of Sela family, to the attendants in this meeting with a thankful speech addressed the father of the deceased, Mr. Idris Sela. “I would be very pleased that in this meeting, today to be among you my daughter professor Flora, but God loved her and took her, despite our efforts to heal her, it was a serious illness so she left us. I am very proud of the words of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti and the Dean Prof. Dr. Ibish Kadriu, who was one of the best friends of my daughter. I want to express my gratitude on behalf of my family, to the Rectorate of the University of Tetova and for all the professors and students as well as Mufti of Tetovo, Prof. Dr. Qani Nesimi, who is professor at the University of Tetova for your participation in the funeral of our daughter. I would like to thank the Rector Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti and his team for organizing this commemorative meeting to remind the life and work of my daughter” – said Mr. Idris Sela.

Prof. Dr. Flora Sela- Kastrati was born in Struga on August 6, 1961. She completed elementary and high school in her hometown. University studies for philosophy – sociology at the University of Kosovo in Prishtina, Faculty of Philosophy. In 1992 at the University of Zagreb (Croatia) successfully defended the master thesis: “Korsh’s views points on history” and received the title Master of Social-Humanitarian Sciences in Contemporary Philosophy. Flora Sela-Kastrati during the academic year 2000/2001 has completed specialization at the International Institute for Public Administration in Paris (France) in the field of Public Administration and Diplomacy. In 2007 she defended her doctoral thesis at St. Cyril and Methodius University at the Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research on “Developing Local Democracy and Cross-Border Co-operation according to the Standards of the Council of Europe”. Prof. Dr. Flora Sela- Kastrati was fluent in her native language, Slavic languages, English and French. In 1982/1992 she worked as an assistant, than as lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Prishtina. From 1994 to 1997 she worked as a professor of Philosophy at the University of Tetova, Faculty of Philosophy. She passed away on March 24, 2018.
