Under the slogan “We want, wish, pray and work for the full integration of persons with special needs”, the University of Tetova marked the December 3rd, the International Day of People with Special Needs. Professors and students of the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Pedagogy of UT, in cooperation with the students and teachers of the special needs classrooms of “Liria” Primary School in Tetovo, marked this day with several activities aimed at sensitizing of the population, so that this part of the society gets integrated as much as possible and feels equal.

Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, called on all the professors of the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation to create platforms and projects in the future in order to give more attention to these people. “On behalf of the University of Tetova, I would like to congratulate you on this organization you have done today. The University of Tetova will continue to support such activities and I promise you for this. As you have organized this event, I invite you and I encourage you to continue with these activities, as well as the professors and students of the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation of our University, I would have proposed to draw different projects in order to assist this study program”- said the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti.

Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Fadbi Osmani, said that this event, among other things, is important for informing the public about a more comprehensive approach to the identification and treatment of persons with special needs when we consider the fact that their number is growing with autistic and hyperactive children.

The Dean for Education of the Faculty of Pedagogy of our University, Prof. Dr. Bunjamin Memedi in his speech to the audience said that today it is very important for everyone to be aware that people with disabilities are equal members of the society and that they can contribute to their best efforts and to enrich the political, social, economic and cultural life.

In this event, teachers, students and a large number of parents, children with special needs performed songs and poems with the help of the students of the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation. Students with special needs of “Liria” Primary School in Tetovo, to the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, handed a gift with the Sunflower symbol made by them.

Also, in honor of December 3rd, the International Day of People with Special Needs were conducted some sports activities organized by “Studenti” Athletic Club of the University of Tetova.
