The AAB College, in partnership with the University of Tetova, “Ismail Qemali” University in Vlora, “Aleksandër Moisiu” University in Durrës, and University College “Pavarësia Vlorë” in Valona, in honor of the 10th anniversary of Independence of Kosovo, on February 15, 2017 organized the International Scientific Conference titled “State Consolidation and Euro-Integration Challenges”.

At the opening of this conference, the Rector of AAB College, Lulzim Tafa, in his address to the participants and scholars of this conference, said that AAB College has become an important academic and scientific center, not only in Kosovo but also in the region and beyond. “We at AAB are organizing scientific conferences and we constantly reiterate that science is the fundamental factor needed to cope with the great challenges that await us as a country in an integrated Europe. To science and its role, we as an institution have paid special importance, creating and enhancing our internal capacities to advance this component”- emphasized Rector Lulzim Tafa.

At this conference was present the former President of the Republic of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu, who in 2008 was one of the key players in the declaration of Kosovo’s Independence. According to him, only scholars have the opportunity to see without political lining and inclination see the development of a country’s process. “Kosovo has overcome a good distance and in its vertical has proven its functioning or sustainability as a country, but there are many things that it should do differently. The possibilities exist, the capacities exist, but it is needed work and sweat, and, as the people say “keep the eyes wide open”, and work 24 hours a day”, said the former president of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu.

On behalf of the University of Tetova and the Rector Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, the conference was welcomed by the Rector’s Office Head, Doc. Dr. Faton Shabani. “First let me share with you the most sincere congratulations of the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti for organizing this important international conference, which in its working schedule plans to address the issues of consolidating the rule of law and dealing with the challenges of the Euro – integration process. At the same time, we express our deepest gratitude for including our University in this scientific organization, which proves the fruitful cooperation between universities and institutions of higher education throughout Albanian territories. The International Scientific Conference titled “State Consolidation and Euro-Integration Challenges” becomes more important for the fact that it is organized in the eve of the 10th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kosovo. Through this scientific conference and with the participation of academics, researchers and scholars of law, politics, administration and economy, we deem that we give contribution to the challenges of the integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union and the overcoming of obstacles that arise during the journey in this process. The acceleration of these integration processes will also affect the strengthening of stability in the region and beyond, which will produce a more stable security, create conditions for new investments from home and abroad and in this way will open the perspective of the country, respectively the Republic of Kosovo. In this regard, the contribution of all responsible persons and entities is needed to promote European ideas and values towards building effective institutions, rule of law, governance transparency and the fight against corruption”- said Doc. Dr. Faton Shabani, lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tetova.

Conference’s intention is to gather in the 10th anniversary of Independence of Kosovo the academics, researchers and personalities (local and international) who have been engaged in the process of Kosovo’s independence.
