Two internationally renowned neurosurgeons, Prof. Dr. Henry Thomas Marsh from England and Prof. Dr. Mentor Petrela from the Republic of Albania today visited the University of Tetova. The aim of this visit was to conduct a public lecture by Prof. Dr. Henry Marsh dedicated to the Artificial Intelligence.
Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kastriot Haxhirexha in front of the audience said that the presence of two world-famous neurosurgeons, such as Prof. Dr. Henry Thomas Marsh and Prof. Dr. Mentor Petrela is a great honor and respect for the University of Tetova, in particular the students and professors of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. He further added that the University of Tetova is now an open temple for every prominent personality in the world of science and art, thanks to the commitment of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti.
While Prof. Dr. Mentor Petrela said that the friendship between Prof. Dr. Henry Marsh and the Albanian people, even though it was a coincidence of ten years ago, however it proved worthy from what we needed to learn from the eminent doctor Marsh, known as one of the best neurosurgeons in the world. It is a great opportunity for students to attend his lecture.
During his lecture, Professor Henry Marsh special emphasis paid to the brain and the functions that it performs, as well as to the development of artificial intelligence. He said that the brain in terms of the functions that performs and the many information that processes can never be replaced by the artificial intelligence. “There are many people who think that the artificial intelligence is a serious threat to humanity, they say that computers are stronger, more powerful, and smarter than humans. Some people in the United States of America believe that our brains will in future be replaced by computers and people will become unnecessary, so according to them the development of artificial intelligence will bring an end to humanity and I personally strongly oppose these theories about the fact that the brain cannot be replaced by a computer, because the functions that performs are different from the functions of computers”, said Prof. Dr. Henry Marsh.
Otherwise, Prof. Dr. Henry Marsh is one of the foremost neurosurgeons not only in England but and beyond. He began his career at one of England’s largest brain surgery hospitals, in St. George Hospital of London, where he was a senior consultant neurosurgeon until 2015.
