This seminar has become an important center of studying Albanian language, literature, history and ethno culture, as it for many years in the premises of our University, gathers a large number of scientific researchers of eminent fields from the country and the region, as well as many professors and students.

He said that this seminar precedes the beginning of the new academic year 2018/2019, and it is organized in the Nationwide Year of Skanderbeg, the hero of our nation. “Based on the historical significance of 2018 for Albanians wherever they live and operate, at the center of the activity of the twelfth edition will be the topic: Scanderbeg between History and Literature. Through special sessions, the 12th International Seminar of Albanology, will highlight various and diverse issues in the field of linguistics, literature, history, ethno culture and Albanian media. This scientific meeting of Albanologists from our country and beyond aims not only to gather the specialists of the above-mentioned sessions to express their views on the various issues, faced by the Albanian society, but invites the scientific researches to position themselves scientifically and to give their contribution in concrete issues, already identified in daily use, spoken and written Albanian language, to highlight the values of Albanian literature, to affirm and protect the historical figures of the Albanian nation”- said Prof. Dr. Reshat Qahili.
Director of the Seminar of Albanian studies, Prof. Dr. Salajdin Saliu, in front of the participants in the seminar said that, beside the central topic will be discussed also on other topics from linguistics, literature, history, ethno culture or the sphere of the media. “We will talk about the possibility of digitizing our cultural heritage, as the civilized nations have acted, who care about their history. It will be talked about the clash between the world of Gutenberg and the digital world, as well as about the traumas conveyed to us at this time. In the framework of this year’s seminar, we will promote the capital work, such as the “Etymological Dictionary of the Albanian Language”, of the respected deceased professor, Kolec Topalli, a prominent figure of Albanian culture. As part of the seminar, we promote the newest issue of the journal “Albanology”, one of the many scientific journals that hold the logo of the University of Tetova. This magazine brings studies from language, literature, history, ethno culture and media, is our modest contribution to our culture “- emphasized Prof. Dr. Salajdin Saliu.
In the framework of the solemn opening of the International Seminar of Albanology, was promoted the “Etymological Dictionary of Albanian Language” by the deceased academic Kolec Topalli. About the importance of this work spoke the director of the Institute of Linguistics and Literature in Tirana Prof. Dr. Valter Memishaj. “I am honored that today at the University of Tetova I am opening the introductory session for the work “Etymological Dictionary of Albanian language” by the academic Kolec Topalli. There are two particulars in this presentation: the first one is that it is promoted outside the borders of Albanian politics, and for this, on behalf of the institution that I lead, I thank the organizers of the seminar and especially the leader of the University, the Rector, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti. The second one is that the work is presented after the death of the honored academician, and this activity, in such a well-educated environment, becomes the expression of the serious and deserving appreciation of the scientific product that the academician inherited to us. Kolec Topalli mainly dealt with issues of historical phonetics and etymology of Albanian language”, added among other things Prof. Dr. Valter Memishaj.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature of the University of Tetova Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, spoke about the academic work of Kolec Topalli and said that he is a prominent personality of Albanology science of our time and that with the results of his work that he has left, are in different areas of research of the history of Albanian language. “He concluded his scientific activity with a broad synthesis of phonetic history, grammar history, lexicon history, such as the” Etymological Dictionary of the Albanian Language” which is now published and which we are talking for and we are here today. I would like to say that there are few scientific researchers of his kind who in a man’s life round up such a synthesis as Professor Topalli had. Such a great experience and research life will miss our science for a long time”- said Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani.
While Prof. Dr. Anila Omari from the Center of Albanological Studies in Tirana stated that the “Etymological Dictionary of Albanian Language” by Professor Kolec Topalli is his last major work, which crowned the experience of a life devoted to scientific research in the field of Albanian language and its history. “Professor Kolec begin his study of the history of Albanian language in the 70s and the first results of this work were published in the only scientific journal of the Institute of Linguistics “Philological Studies”- said Prof. Dr. Anila Omari.
While Prof. Dr. Begzat Baliu from the University of Prishtina emphasized that the etymological dictionary of the Albanian language of Professor Kolec remains one of the largest syntheses and one of the deepest synthetic corpuses of Albanian language. “The work of Professor Kolec Topalli comes as a continuation of the tradition of etymological studies of the Albanian language, which methodologically and conceptually, constitutes in itself the best achievements not only of its internal developments, but of the European school in general as well”- said Prof. Dr. Begzat Baliu.
