With the adaptation of the study programs according to the Bologna system and with the accreditation of 2007, the Faculty of Philology was again formed, but in addition to the four study programs that were already functioning, three new study programs were added: French Language and Literature, Italian Language and Literature, Translation and Interpreting. In 2013, the Faculty of Philology reaccredited all of the above-mentioned study programs, including master’s studies, and the doctoral program only for the German Studies major.
Meanwhile, in the latest accreditation processes of 2021, in addition to the already traditional programs, six new programs of the II cycle (master’s studies) have been accredited, such as: Methodology of Teaching Albanian Language and Literature 60 ECTS, Methodology of Teaching German Language 60 ECTS and Methodology of Teaching French Language 60 ECTS. In addition to the re-accreditations with 60 ECTS, now, for the first time, we have accredited with 120 ECTS credits the study programs: English Linguistics, English Literature, Methodology of Teaching English Language. The novelty of the Faculty of Philology is the study program Language Editing 60 ECTS credits, which is a specialization in language editing.
Mission: The Faculty of Philology operates within the University of Tetovo as an academic unit focused on providing study programs in the field of philological sciences, starting from the study of national sciences (Albanian language, literature and culture), teaching and studying foreign languages, literatures and cultures (Macedonian, English, German, French, Italian). The fundamental principles on which the mission of this institution is based are mainly related to the higher education of young people in the fields of humanities and philology, as well as the preparation of teachers of the Albanian language, Macedonian language and foreign languages. The study programs are in line with world standards for the preparation of qualified personnel, meeting the demands of the labor market.
Development strategy: In general, our work as a higher education institution focuses on several concrete elements of our vision and mission for the future. In the strategic plan, the Faculty of Philology strives to continuously improve the quality of teaching and keep pace with proven universities. Among the main goals is the organization of continuous training of academic staff in order to improve the quality of teaching and the engagement of teachers with high professional and scientific experience, the continuous improvement of the infrastructure and necessary working conditions at the faculty, the increase in the quantity and quality of scientific research activity, the publication of books and scientific journals, the continued indexing of the current journal “Philology” on other platforms, participation in joint projects with sister faculties in the region and beyond in the field of teaching, excellence in scientific research and professional training, etc.
