The Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Tetova marked June 1 – International Children’s Day. June 1 serves to raise awareness and to say no to violence and abuse to children. The Faculty of Pedagogy in cooperation with the primary schools of the Municipality of Tetova, “Pëparimi”, “Naim Frashëri” and “Kiril and Metodij”, marks this day and gives the message that all children have equal rights. During this activity, the students of the Faculty of Pedagogy played some games in the framework of free subject activities in Mathematics, Albanian Language and Physical Education.

Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Prof. Dr. Lulzim Mehmedi said that this event aims to increase attention towards their well-being and to say no to violence, bullying and other abuses against children. “It is the day when children themselves raise their voice for their rights, but unlike adults, their protest is done with festive games. More than any other day, they want our attention, the attention of parents and the state. Children are life’s most precious treasure and deserve peace, love, happiness and joy. We must allow them to breathe freely and be educated in the best way possible. Each child is a different flower, but all together make the world a beautiful garden! It is precisely the children who deserve the right to think that they can change the world”, said the dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Lulzim Mehmed.

At the end of this activity, the professor of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Prof. Dr. Besa Havziu emphasized that we are a team that works for them and we love the children. “One thing I want to convey to the wider public, and especially to teachers, is a memorandum that a child said: Don’t force me, this teaches me that only strength is valued. I react better when you guide me. Do not question my faith out of fear, for I will only tell you lies. Therefore, let’s love them, guide them and as you have worked so far, I hope you will work in the future as well”, said the professor of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Prof. Dr. Besa Havziu.

This event was also important from an artistic point of view. First, the students Arbra Nuredini and Rida Vehapi performed a musical performance, then the students of the Pedagogical Faculty brought a dramatization against family violence, technology and bullying and the TUTU Ballet Studio performed an artistic performance. Children’s Day was established on June 1, since the World Conference on Child Welfare was held in Geneva in 1925.
