The Nobel laureate Ferid Murad has passed away, the rare personality who honored our whole nation, whose ancestry we emphasize with pride.

His father, Xhabir Murat Ejupi, was born in the village of Llakavica in Gostivar, a fact that awakens a special pride for all of us. The father of Prof. Dr. Ferid Murad, from an early age, in search of a better life, left his hometown Llakavica and emigrated to the Balkan countries, and in 1913 he settled in the United States of America.

In 1935 he married Henrietta Josephine Bowman from Illinois. Their son, Ferid Murad, was born in 1936 in Whiting, Indiana.

He spent his childhood in a working family, but full of wealth and spiritual prosperity. From her grandmother and mother, who was a special personality, he inherited precious moral virtues, humanity and kindness towards people.

His thought and work have enriched science with scholarly and professional publications, books and related literature. The professional-scientific contribution is a guide for the new generations, who are determined for research-scientific work. His scientific works are appreciated for the advanced progress in the research activity. Published books and scientific papers are an inexhaustible source for future scientific researchers in the field of pharmacology and biomedicine.

The unique values and quality of the published works prove the wisdom of the seasoned scientific thought of Prof. Dr. Ferid Murad.

The activity in the field of management of institutions, oriented towards the diagnosis and therapy of serious psycho-generative diseases, in the contemporary equipment for laboratory research led by well-known scientific workers, constitutes the extraordinary contribution in the development of scientific thought in the field of medicine.

Nobel laureate Ferid Murad, through presentations and scientific reports at scientific conferences, seminars and other important gatherings, has made an irreplaceable contribution to the development of scientific thought in the field of medicine and pharmacology.

Respecting the achievements and successes of the Nobel laureate, Prof. Dr. Ferid Murad, his all-round contribution, research-scientific work, professional applied and publishing activity, ethical values, commitment to the deepening of research work and scientific discoveries in the field of medical sciences, humanism, innovative role in the field of biomedical sciences, the extraordinary discovery about the role of nitric oxide in cardiovascular diseases, as well as the desire to transfer rich knowledge and create conditions for the conduction of research-scientific activities of young researchers, the University of Tetova, on June 2012, awarded the title Doctor Honoris Causa.

His death is a great loss for education, science and scientific research worldwide. His work will remain eternal and will be of immense help to students and scientific workers of medical sciences.
