The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, today visited the University of Tetova. He first held a meeting with the leaders of the University of Tetova, Rector Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, President of the Senate Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, the Vice-Rectors, the general secretary and the president of the Student Parliament. As part of the visit to the UT, President Stevo Pendarovski held a lecture on the topic: “Youth and society”.
Rector Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli in his speech to the audience said that this visit is an event that coincides with the visits of prominent personalities from social life to the University of Tetova. “The President’s visits to higher education institutions not only express support for universities, but he appreciates the special and irreplaceable role that these institutions provide in the function of development and social progress on the one hand and, in favor of qualitative, social, political, cultural, educational and scientific transformations, on the other hand”. While the President Stevo Pendarovski during his lecture stated that there is no example in the history of mankind, especially in the 20th and 21st century, that a state has economic prosperity and does not have democracy. “Why is it so important to join the EU? We must be in the European Union, first of all to learn how to organize the state and society and for a few years to be on the same level as the most developed democracies. To get there, we have to make this compromise as well. With nationalism, we don’t have a good democracy, with nationalism, you certainly don’t have good international relations, with nationalism you certainly won’t make any compromises, however, we find it inalienable to make compromises in order to be part of the developed world democratic. We have few people left in Macedonia and if we are not respected among ourselves with all our ethnic, linguistic and other peculiarities, there will be no happiness for any of us” – said the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski.
President Pendarovski ended his stay at the University of Tetova with a visit to the Laboratory for examination and testing of construction materials of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
