The employees of the University of Tetova, today in the square of the Rectorate, organized a protest calling for the signing of the Collective Agreement with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The purpose of the protest was the unification of salaries at the state level for all employees in the state universities in RNM, as foreseen in the Collective Agreement which was concluded a few days ago with the University of Skopje.
The President of the Workers’Union of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Shefket Dehari, in this protest of the academic and administrative staff, expressed the dissatisfaction and indignation of the employees and members of the Workers’ Union, which was created by the non-signing of the Collective Agreement with the President of the Parliament of the RNM.
He emphasized that the Workers’ unions are united and share the same opinion that our universities have been ignored and discriminated by the Parliament and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, by not signing the Collective Agreement with the five public universities and by not calculating the salaries of the employees according to this agreement.
“We welcome the signing of the Collective Agreement between the Speaker of the Parliament and the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje and as a result the Government’s decision to increase the salaries of the employees of this university, but at the same time we order these institutions to apply standards double, discrimination and inequality with the other five public universities in the country, because in RMV the Law of Higher Education applies equally to all universities, therefore the income of employees in these universities must be equivalent.” – emphasized Prof. Dr. Shefket Dehari.
At the end of his speech, he disclosed the requests addressed to the Assembly of RNM, which are:
– The signing of the Collective Agreement should be done before the dissolution of the Parliament of the RNM;
– The Government of RNM to implement this Collective Agreement by calculating the income of employees according to the coefficients provided in the Collective Agreement.
He expressed his belief that the Parliament and the Government, as the highest institutions of the state, will find a solution to get out of this situation in which they themselves have fallen. Similar protests have been organized in other public universities with the sole purpose of restoring dignity, integrity and justice for all their employees.
