The Department of Albanian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Tetova commemorated the poet Lindita Ahmeti today through a literary hour. The Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, stated that in the literary world, Lindita appeared in the early 1990s as a unique voice, and her poetry quickly came into the focus of the most famous literary researchers and critics. “With her death, poetry, the Albanian language, and Albanian culture in general suffered a great loss. Lindita was engaged with our faculty for a period of her life. I feel very proud as the Dean of the Faculty of Philology that, with our proposal, Lindita Ahmeti was awarded the state prize ’11 October’ for lifetime achievement in 2022,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani.
Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sulejmani, Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Dr. Salajdin Salihi, and Professor Doc. Dr. Vjollcë Berisha spoke about her literary work and life. They evoked various memories and, through the poetry of Lindita Ahmeti, brought attention to the uniqueness of her works, which will remain present forever.
At the conclusion of this event, students from the Department of Albanian Language and Literature recited some of Lindita Ahmeti’s poems. Afterwards, the student magazine “Përtej” was also launched.
