American professor Amanda Clinton visited the University of Tetova. She first held a meeting with the Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Nezirin; the Head of the Office for Education, MSc. Naser Ramadani; the Vice-Dean for Education of the Faculty of Philosophy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Fitore Bajrami-Abdi; the Vice-Dean for Science, Prof. Dr. Musa Musai; and the Head of the Psychology Study Program, Prof. Dr. Lulzim Murtezani.

Initially, the Vice-Rector for Education informed Ms. Clinton, who is also the Director of the International Office of the American Psychological Association, about the inclusion of research teams in longitudinal studies and the importance of these results in policymaking. The possibility of cooperation between the University of Tetova and the American Psychological Association was also discussed. Ms. Clinton welcomed the idea of fruitful collaboration in joint research between the two institutions.

Then, before the students of the Psychology study program and professional services of the schools in our country, she delivered a professional lecture on the topic “Social emotional development and intervention for children and youth”. During the lecture, special emphasis was placed on socio-emotional development from early childhood, as such development would also reflect on their psycho-social well-being.

There was also a discussion about the supportive role of policymaking in creating programs that foster socio-emotional development. The lecture was interactive, with students asking various questions about the topic. At the end of the lecture, to the Ms. Clinton as a sign of respect was bestowed a gratitude for her contribution.
