In the last days of May, the first artistic colony was organized in the Cultural Information Center of Istanbul under the motto “Together as One.” Professors from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Tetova also participated in this international project: Professor, Lulzime Leka Mulaku, painter; Associate Professor, Drenusha Palloshi, painter; and Associate Professor, Jëlldëz Asani, in the capacity of curator of the exhibition. This event represents not only a significant step for art and culture but also a historical moment in the promotion of female artists from North Macedonia.
“Together as One” symbolizes unity and shared strength among artists from a rich mosaic of cultures and ethnicities. This artistic colony offers a unique opportunity for women’s voices and talents to be heard and appreciated on a wider international stage, giving female art its rightful place in the history of world art.
The work and dedication of the artists—Lulzime Leka Mulaku, Enesa Memeti, Drenusha Palloshi, Akime Nasufi Rexhepi, Jana Maneva Çuposka, Ana Trajkovska, Katerina Tanevska, and Ebru Selman—culminated in a very special exhibition, showcasing works that are both different and similar in their shared spirit. All the works created for this exhibition are stylistically diverse, featuring a fusion of color, structure, gesture, line, and surface that transforms ideas into reality. Some artists create a reality using an unusual mixture of elements such as profane objects, portraits, nudes, and symbolic elements, imaginatively transforming these motifs into unusual sizes and shapes. The associative world of these works is secretive, spiritually enriched, and masterfully presented.
The female artists, with their bold vision in this international activity, not only showcased the mosaic of ethnic and cultural diversity of North Macedonia but also demonstrated the unity and solidarity that art creates. They achieved this with the strength of their feminine spirit, releasing an artistic scream that echoed as a thought, an idea, or a concept, precisely in Istanbul, a city full of history, culture, and art.
The exhibition was attended by dignitaries from the fields of art, culture, education, and medicine, who honored the event with their presence.
This intercultural cooperation and initiative became a reality through the commitment of the Director of the Cultural Information Center of Istanbul, Mr. Valmir Aziri, collaborator Hulja Hilmi, and artist Ebru Selman.
