As part of the project “Promoting a safe School environment”, the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Tetova organized today a basic workshop on the topic “Violence and discrimination in schools.”The workshop was led by a team of professors: Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, Prof. Dr. Lulzim Mehmedi, Prof. Dr. Besa Havziu-Ismaili, Prof. Dr. Ardita Ceka, Prof. Dr. Makfirete Ameti, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gëzim Xhambazi.
Students from all study programs, as well as professors, participated in this activity. The main goals of the workshop were to inform participants about the different forms of violence and discrimination, understand their impact, and develop skills to identify strategies for preventing these phenomena. Furthermore, an important aspect was encouraging empathy and ethical behavior to reduce violence and discrimination, while also creating a concrete action plan to address these issues.
During the workshop, students demonstrated a high level of creativity and professional preparation. They contributed innovative ideas and displayed excellent collaboration skills through group work. Through simulations and role-playing, students analyzed and addressed various situations of violence and discrimination, offering solutions through strategies they themselves developed. Their personal experiences as former students, along with examples from current events, helped deepen the discussions and contributed to drafting a concrete plan for preventing and reducing violence in schools. At the end of the workshop, were also awarded certificates of participation.
This three-year project will continue with an advanced workshop, which is planned to be held in February.
