This seminar is organized by the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy and aims to address educational policies for professional orientation. During two days, experts in this field will share their experiences with students and graduates about this topic.
Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, in his speech at the opening of the proceedings of this seminar, emphasized that, in conditions of essential social-economic changes of societies, but also of the modernization of all spheres of human life, it is necessary that modern education to be oriented towards research of measures and new ways of training and professional development of young people. “This process is challenging, both for institutions and policy makers to follow the pace of changes, but also for young people to make the choice for their professional formation.
On the shoulders of young people lies the burden of making one of the most important life decisions, which in combination with family pressure, that of society and past performance represent a source of anxiety, despair and fear of how promising the decision will be of choosing the future profession. Facing this complicated situation means the integration of young people in the professional activity, where in addition to anticipating a future job that depends on the conditions of the labor market, it projects personal aspirations into professional ones. In order to achieve their goal, young people undoubtedly understand the social value of the profession – what the profession can offer to society, but also the personal one – what they expect from the profession and how many skills they have to achieve the same”- said the Rector Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti.
He further stated that professional orientation for young people materializes the transformation plan of their dream for the future, which in contemporary conditions should aim to offer equal opportunities for personality development and professional development. According to him, the function of professional orientation is not only in the selection of the profession, but also in the awareness of young people about their individual potential and interests with a diverse character, by letting them know that they are able to achieve high levels of professionalism in relevant field.
The beginning of the work of this seminar was welcomed also by the Minister of Education and Science in our country, Jeton Shaqiri. He stated that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia is a catalyst between the initiation of these programs for professional orientation and the implementation of the same in high- schools in order to develop sustainable and quality infrastructures for the professional services of schools and the application of these practices to students. “Supporting programs for professional counseling and orientation is a mechanism that intertwines the achievement of some political objectives for a more developed state, in which case through this strategic form of education, we offer labor markets with workers where their skills will match the requirements of the work, this means that we will have increase in quality and productivity, which will result in an increase in the economic development of the country and this whole vicious circle will reflect a healthy social spirit”, emphasized, among other things, the Minister of Education and Science, Jeton Shaqiri.
