The study program of Pharmacy of the University of Tetova organized professional lectures on the topic: “Pharmacovigilance – The safety of medicines and patients”, aimed at raising awareness and knowledge about best practices in monitoring the safety of medicines and highlighting the importance of collaboration between healthcare workers, institutions, and the pharmaceutical industry in this regard.
Today’s event was welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, who stated that the University of Tetova, as a center of higher education and scientific research, supports initiatives that contribute to increasing the quality of health services and strengthen cooperation between academic institutions and professionals in the field. “The safety of medicines and responsibility for patients are the main pillars upon which public trust in the healthcare system is built. This is why today’s lectures represent not only an opportunity for professional development but also a moral obligation to advance knowledge and apply it in practice”, said in his speech, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Elezi thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of this activity, stating that such events are welcome as they help us understand the safety of medicines, always without forgetting the safety of patients. He said that the Faculty of Medical Sciences will continue to support any event that will be organized within the framework of educational-scientific activities.
Also present at today’s event was the President of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of North Macedonia, Vesna Stavrova, who expressed her pleasure in participating in a professional lecture on pharmacovigilance, emphasizing that this is an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, as well as to strengthen our medicine safety monitoring systems.
In her capacity as the organizer of this event, the head of the Pharmacy study program at the University of Tetova, Asst. Prof. Dr. Arjeta Shabani said that the organization of this professional lecture is the result of the joint commitment of the University of Tetova in cooperation with the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices in the Republic of North Macedonia. According to her, this lecture reflects the joint efforts to contribute to the development of science and education in continuity.
Regarding today’s professional lecture, the following speakers elaborated further: Prof. Dr. Arlinda Haxhiu Zajmi – Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the UT, Elona Çilku – Head of the Pharmacy Unit at the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency in North Macedonia, Marjana Panajotoviq Pop Nikola, Global Pharmacovigilance Manager at Alkaloid, and Joana Stojanovska Andonovska – President of the Private Pharmacists Association in North Macedonia.
