At the University of Tetova, specifically at the Legal Clinic of the Faculty of Law, were presented the results of the research-scientific project “Justice – A Challenge for the Judiciary of North Macedonia”. This is an important initiative in the field of justice and judicial reform in the country.
The project was managed by a team composed of well-known figures in the field of justice, including: Prof. Dr. Agim Nuhiu, Prof. Dr. Sulejman Ahmedi, Prof. Dr. Ferat Polisi, Prof. Dr. Bashkim Selmani, Prof. Dr. Shpresa Alimi, Prof. Dr. Faton Shabani, Prof. Dr. Fisnike Bekteshi – Shaqiri, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bukurije Ademi, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Drita Muharemi.
This independent and source-based research aimed to identify the current issues within the judicial system of North Macedonia, contributing to the improvement of transparency, accountability, and integrity within this vital system for society.
The coordinator of this project, Prof. Dr. Agim Nuhiu, emphasized that the main objectives include: (Updated) the modernization of court practices in North Macedonia; analysis of petitions and complaints against the work of judges and their accountability; assessment of European justice as a challenge for the country’s judiciary; and gathering opinions and views from faculty members and students of the Faculty of Law regarding current challenges within the judicial system.
He also stated that scientific conclusions and recommendations have been made, which will be sent to the relevant state institutions, with the aim of taking concrete and necessary measures to improve the functioning of justice.
This research simultaneously strengthens the belief that justice is a fundamental value for any civilized society, promoting equality, fighting injustices, and guaranteeing respect for human rights.
