The staff of the Faculty of Pedagogy had the honor to listen to a presentation about the development of the educational system for children with autism spectrum disorders in Poland, starting shortly before the 80s and up to today. The professor emphasized the influence of parents on the changes that have been brought in Poland, starting from legislation, medical treatment, diagnosis, education, and their social welfare, because of which the International Association for Autism was established in Poland, which is the umbrella of the most many associations. The care of these children, according to the professor, does not end at the age of 18, but they have also founded “The Community Hope Foundation”, which builds several care and living centers for adults with autism.
She also underlined the comprehensive process, a process which also affects RNM, but also integrated schools and special schools for children with SEN, as well as their several years of experience of including children with SEN in the regular education system, these experiences that were useful for the staff of the Faculty of Education. During the presentation, the educational staff had the opportunity to exchange questions and discuss, while the Dean emphasized the importance of this meeting for the exchange of international experiences and expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation with the Pedagogical University of Krakow.
