Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, participated in the Seminar “Shkodra Through the Centuries”

Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, participated in the seminar “Shkodra Through the Centuries” organized by the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi,” the Center for Albanological Studies, in collaboration with the Municipality of Shkodra. Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani presented his scientific paper titled “The scientific works of Academician Kolec Topalli presented and published in the books of the proceedings of the International Albanological Seminar of the University of Tetova,” in which Kolec Topalli published two papers: “The fundamental principles of the development of the Albanian Alphabet” (Second International Albanological Seminar, 2008) and “The role of Selman Rizë in Albanological Sciences” (Third International Albanological Seminar, 2009). Academician Kolec Topalli is a distinguished figure in the field of Albanological sciences of our time. The results of his work cover various research areas in the history of the Albanian language. K. Topalli concluded his scientific activity with an extensive synthesis on phonetic history, grammatical history, and lexicon history, such as the Etymological Dictionary of the Albanian Language (1984 pages), which was published by QSA, IGJL, in Tirana, in November 2017. During the proceedings of the Twelfth International Albanological Seminar (2018), organized by the University of Tetova, the presentation of the FEGJSH was made, with speakers from Tirana (Valter Memisha, Anila Omari), Prishtina (Begzad Baliu), and Tetovo (Berton Sulejmani).

During his stay in Shkodër, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, was also received by the Rector of the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”, Prof. Dr. Tonin Gjuraj, with whom he discussed the possibility of deepening the collaboration between their universities. The Dean of the Faculty of Philology to the Rector of the University of Shkodra presented the portrait of Mother Teresa and several issues of the journals Filologia and Albanologjia. The seminar “Shkodra Through the Centuries” took place on December 12 and 13, 2024.
