Faculty of Arts of the University of Tetova on December 4, 2025, held a workshop titled: “Një dritë – shumë dritëshkrime” – “One Light – Many Light-Writings”, dedicated to the world of portrait photography. It was conducted by the well-known photographer of Skopje origin, Rromir Imami, who lives and works in Switzerland.

The event was greeted by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor, Senad Abduli, who thanked photographer Imami for accepting the invitation and for his willingness to conduct such a valuable workshop at the University of Tetova.

The project coordinator, Professor Jëlldëz Asani, emphasized that this workshop, dedicated to students and art enthusiasts, aimed to explore the creative and expressive dimensions of portraiture. Participants had the opportunity to become familiar with the basics of using natural and artificial light, subject positioning, background selection, and constructing the ideal composition. The workshop program included theoretical explanations, practical exercises, and professional guidance from the photographer himself. Through experimenting with light, texture, atmosphere, and visual narrative, students were encouraged to explore the identity, emotion, and story that a portrait can convey. The main goal was to foster personal expression and the development of a unique style within the art of photography. Rromir Imami completed his master’s studies in Digital Communication for Cultural Heritage at the Università della Svizzera Italiana (Lugano), as well as a professional specialization in portrait photography at the New York Institute of Photography. He has extensive practical experience as a photographer and has served as a research collaborator in various institutions in Switzerland, contributing to important projects involving the digitization of medieval manuscripts and the preservation of cultural heritage.

In the professional field, he is known for his specialization in portrait photography, business photography, and corporate photography. He runs ‘RRIM Photo Studio’—a studio recognized for creating portraits with a strong visual identity. Additionally, Imami leads the cultural center NOMART – North Macedonian Art in Bern, which aims to promote the art and culture of North Macedonia within the diaspora. He has skillfully documented numerous members of the Albanian diaspora, creating exhibitions that highlight stories of migration, identity, and the experiences of our community abroad.

In conclusion, the participants showed particular interest and enthusiasm and gained a deeper understanding of the portrait as an artistic and technical form. Through this workshop, students acquired the necessary knowledge to advance the development of their own photographic style.
