“Let’s learn by learning how to play – Learning through play” was the topic of the workshop organized by the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Tetova. This workshop aimed to familiarize graduates with the study programs offered by the faculty, as well as to inform them about teachers’ experiences and teaching methods.
At the beginning of this activity, the Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Lulzim Mehmeti, thanked the graduates for their interest in getting to know the 5 study programs offered by the Faculty of Pedagogy. He mentioned that through this workshop titled ‘Learning through play,’ even more individuals would have the opportunity to become familiar with the entire activities of our Faculty in detail. He expressed hope that in the academic year 2024/2025, they would become students of our Faculty.
The trainers for this workshop were Asst. Prof. Dr. Mahir Mustafa, a Docent of social sciences, pedagogical and educational, who lives and works in Switzerland, and Erika Masina Beuggert, also from Switzerland, known in Kosovo and North Macedonia as the Ambassador of the teaching profession for the preschool cycle.
In this workshop, among other things, it was mentioned that studies have proven learning through play to be very important in a child’s development, especially in the first seven years of their life. Pre-school and pre-primary institutions are the places where children engage in sensory, language, and motor development, learn to write, read, count, socialize, and share emotions.
During the workshop with the two professors, the graduates were informed about the importance of play in child development, how play is promoted in early childhood education, the significance of recyclable and reusable materials in preschool education and what children learn from them, why art and theater are considered important components in early childhood education, and other related topics.
