The Department of Albanian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology, on April 15, 2026, organized a training session to prepare high school graduates for the state matura exam in the subject of Albanian Language and Literature. This activity aimed to prepare them for the matura exam by providing practical guidance, methodological advice, and orientation regarding the structure of the test. During this training, students had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, practice literary analysis, and strengthen the language skills required for the exam.
With encouraging words, the high school graduates were addressed by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Emine Shabani. She stated that for most of them, the matura exam may seem like pressure and stress, but it is also their opportunity to shine. She also focused on the essay, which may seem difficult, but is in fact their voice. It is their way of showing how they think, how they argue, and how they stand in front of an idea. “Today, together with our assistants, you will not only learn rules. Today you will practice. You will try. You will make mistakes. And that is exactly where improvement begins! Do not be afraid to raise your hand. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Do not be afraid to try – because no one becomes excellent without going through the learning process. Give your best! Be engaged! Take this opportunity seriously – because every idea you develop today, every sentence you write today, is one step closer to the result you want in the matura”, -said the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Emine Shabani.
As part of this training, the lecturer from the Department of Albanian Language and Literature, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nertila Ramadani, in her presentation, spoke about the language section, common dilemmas, frequently asked questions, and the correct way of answering in the matura exam. Meanwhile, MSc. Kaltrina Sadiki – Memeti elaborated on essay writing as an important part of the matura exam. She emphasized that essay writing is not only a formal component of the matura exam, but also an opportunity for students to demonstrate their analytical, argumentative, and creative skills. As a sign of respect and appreciation for their dedication and hard work, Albanian language teachers in secondary schools were awarded certificates of appreciation by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Emine Shabani, as well as the Head of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature, Asst. Prof. Dr. Albulena Dehari.
At the conclusion of the activity, the high school graduates participated in an essay competition. The three best essays selected by the evaluation committee will be awarded and published in the journal Përtej.
