The importance of freedom of the press was the topic of lecture held by the Fulbright program professor Miranda Spivac from the United States of America. In her lecture today she talked about the importance of the freedom of the press as a universal right guaranteed by law. According to her, for a state to function in a democratic manner, it is inevitable to guarantee the freedom of speech. She also talked about her experience as well as her journalist challenges for almost 40 years in the well-known American newspaper Washington Post.
On the other hand, the dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Qebir Avziu, thanked Professor Spivac, saying that such lectures are of interest to the students because they get acquainted with new experiences.
Miranda Spivac is a professor of journalism at the DePauw University in the USA and during this semester, in the framework of the Fulbright program he will lecture at the University of Tetova in the department journalism.
