The Chinese prominent albanologist, a professor at the Faculty of Languages at Beijing University in China, Prof. Ke Jing, accompanied by Albanian academics, Prof. Dr. Floresha Dado and Prof. Dr. Shaban Sinani, visited the University of Tetova. During their stay at the University of Tetova, they initially held a joint meeting with the Rector of our University, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti and the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sulejmani.
Later, the albanologist, Prof. Ke Jing, in front of the students and the academic staff of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Tetova, delivered a lecture on the topic “Albanian studies in China”. Professor Ke Jing, with her Albanian name Gjina, during her presentation mainly focused on the importance of the history of albanology. She also dealt with the question of identity and its recognition through the other. “This visit is very significant to me. My great desire to get to know Tetovo from close was realized. In the ’80s, when I was a student in Kosovo, in the classroom I had friends from Tetovo and other cities in Macedonia like Struga and from that time I wanted to visit Tetovo, the more that this city has its own University, a qualitative university. Thus, we hope to establish cooperation with this University, respectively with the Department of Albanian Language of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Tetova and the Department of Albanian Language in Beijing. The visit is very useful to me and I hope that we will collaborate in the future. I’m impressed with the success and achievements of this University. It was a pleasure for me to deliver a lecture before the Albanian students and professors here in Tetovo”- said Prof. Dr. Ke Jing – Gjina.
Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. dr. Dr. Fatmir Sulejmani, said that the visit of the professor from China, Ke Jing, named Gjina in Albanian, is of special importance because now she has become a renowned albanologist and she is distinguished not only in Albania and China but even beyond, in addition, Professor Gjina – Ke Jing is a prominent balkanologist. “She has made a tremendous contribution to the development of Albanian studies in China because she has been the head of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature at Beijing University, and today she also promotes the doctoral studies there, as well as translations of Albanian literary works and the publication and preparation of the Albanian-Chinese and Chinese-Albanian vocabulary and many new promotions of Albanian studies in the great country of China. China is a very ancient civilization and having an albanologists of this category from China such as Professor Gjina – Ke Jing, is a big deal for Albanian culture”- said Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sulejmani. The lecture of the albanologist Ke Jing – Gjina was attended by a large number of students and professors of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Tetova.
