At the Legal Clinic of the Faculty of Law at the University of Tetova, on December 23, 2025, a public lecture was held by Jorida Tabaku, a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania. The topic of the lecture was “European Integration of the Western Balkan Countries: Challenges and Perspectives – the Case of Albania”, addressing current developments, key reforms, and the perspective of accession to the European Union.

At the opening of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Safet Emruli, welcomed Ms. Tabaku, emphasizing the importance of discussing the European integration process within a higher education institution, particularly for the professional and critical development of students. He underlined that the European integration process represents a significant political and legal challenge for the countries of the Western Balkans, while the case of Albania, through reforms in the justice system and the harmonization of legislation with the European Union, offers valuable experiences for other countries in the region as well.

Meanwhile, Ms. Tabaku’s lecture focused primarily on Albania’s experience in the European integration process, starting from the Thessaloniki Agreement up to the present day, intertwining it with the trajectories of the countries of the region. She highlighted the key moments that led to the different pace of progress among the Western Balkan states on this path, which cannot be fully completed without the joint integration of the entire Western Balkan region as a whole.

Prior to the event, Ms. Tabaku held a friendly meeting with the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, during which they discussed academic cooperation, the role of universities in integration processes, and the importance of institutional dialogue in the fields of education and law. Rector of the UT, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, assessed this activity as an important contribution to enriching academic debate and strengthening inter-institutional ties between the University of Tetova and representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Albania.
