On December 23, 2025, the University of Tetova had the pleasure of officially welcoming the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Ms. Elisa Spiropali, accompanied by Ambassador Mr. Denion Meidani. During her visit to the University of Tetova, she was received by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, and other university leaders. During the meeting, Rector Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli briefed the Minister on the mission, vision, and current developments of the University of Tetova, emphasizing its role as a public higher education institution contributing to the advancement of knowledge, science, and social development. He highlighted the university’s commitment to academic quality, scientific research, and internationalization, as well as the importance of cooperation with educational and governmental institutions of the Republic of Albania. Among other points, the importance of creating a joint academic center was emphasized, where experts from various fields can collaboratively develop educational, scientific, cultural, social, and other projects.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs appreciated the work and contribution of the University of Tetova in the training of new academic and professional staff. She emphasized that higher education and science are key pillars for democratic development, strengthening ties among Albanians, and advancing toward European integration, expressing institutional support for initiatives that reinforce academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation. Additionally, Ms. Spiropali highlighted in her speech that the University of Tetova remains a symbolic institution of higher education for every Albanian, considering the circumstances and challenges it has faced from its founding to its full consolidation.

Words of gratitude and appreciation toward the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania were also expressed by the President of the Senate, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ferati, and the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, while the President of the Student Council, Leart Ibraimi, on behalf of the Student Council, expressed his desire to establish a joint student forum for Albanians from all Albanian-inhabited regions, wherever they live and study. During her visit to the University of Tetova, Ms. Spiropali also visited the Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication. In the meeting she held with the Director, MSc. Donika Kamberi, she was informed about the activities carried out by this center and the joint initiatives that have been implemented with Northern Illinois University from Chicago, United States of America.

Subsequently, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, together with her team and the leadership of the University of Tetova, visited the construction laboratory at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the food laboratory at the Faculty of Food Technology and Nutrition. At the conclusion of the visit, the leadership of our University thanked Minister Spiropali for her visit and the attention shown to higher education, reiterating the University of Tetova’s readiness to deepen cooperation and develop joint projects in the future.
