President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bajram Begaj, paid an official visit today at the University of Tetova. At this higher education institution in the Albanian language, President Begaj was welcomed by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli; the President of the Senate, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ferati; the Secretary General, Mr. Adem Beadini; the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti; the Vice-Rector for Finance, Prof. Dr. Aida Yzeiri–Baftijari; the Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Neziri; the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Salajdin Salihi; the President of the Student Parliament, Leart Ibraimi; as well as senators, professors, students, and other staff members.
In his welcome speech, the Rector of UT thanked the Albania for the unwavering support it has given to the University of Tetova since its founding years, throughout its establishment and continuous development. He further added that the University of Tirana, during the most difficult moments, extended a helping hand to this institution of knowledge, and thus, together, they overcame challenging days for the university. Thanks to this valuable assistance and shared dedication, now has been also achieved successful cooperation with Washington, D.C.
Meanwhile, President Begaj stated that it is an honor, privilege, and pleasure for him to be at the University of Tetova, in this temple of knowledge. “This institution was not born from an administrative decision, but from a courageous historical decision. University of Tetova is a public institution that today serves society and science, but above all, it serves the future. Albanians and Tetovo have known how to transform their aspiration for knowledge into a solid and sustainable project, and that is why today’s meeting holds extraordinary importance for me”, emphasized Mr. Bajram Begaj.
Among other things, he added that Albania views Albanian-language education in North Macedonia as part of a shared cultural and academic space. According to him, cooperation between universities should be deepened through student exchanges, joint study programs, and regional platforms, as Albanian-language education is not a matter of borders, but a matter of quality. During President Begaj’s visit to the University of Tetova, was signed the continuation of the Cooperation Agreement between the University of Tetova and the University of Tirana. President Begaj’s visit was regarded as significant support for strengthening educational and institutional cooperation between Albania and the University of Tetova, as well as for promoting higher education in the Albanian language in the country and the region.
