Rector of UT, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti: Professor Remzi Nesimi is a doyen of Albanian education and culture

University of Tetova, with deep sorrow received the news for the passing away of Prof. Dr. Remzi Nesimit, a respected intellectual all over Albanian-speaking territories. Professor Remzi was a torch of higher education in Albanian language in Macedonia as well as a zealous Albanian scholar. With his fruitful educational, scientific and cultural work he greatly contributed for the acquisition of literature norms in Albanian schools, in written and electronic media in Macedonia and generally for the cultivation, enrichment and preservation of the purity of Albanian language from foreign elements.

Prof. Dr. Remzi Nesimi was a rare intellectual, a wide-ranging figure, he is valuable in many fields, but his greatest contribution is in the field of linguistics. His heritage in the field of language is great. Through this activity, Prof. Dr. Remzi Nesimi’s main goal was the realization of ideals of our Renaissance scholars, who constantly fought for the enhancement and spreading of Albanian language, as well as its correct use according to the standardization rules. Almost for half a century, he devotedly strived to increase the overall educational and cultural development and national awareness of the Albanian people in Macedonia and beyond, to enhance, codify and refine the formal Albanian language. With his multi-dimensional activity, Professor Remzi strongly contributed for the increase of common national pyramid at the highest level.

In these difficult moments of pain, on behalf of me and on behalf of the University of Tetova, we would like to express our sincere condolences to the venerable Nesimi family, collaborators, students, his colleagues and his friends.

May the memory for Prof. Dr. Remzi Nesimi, be eternal!
