A large number of academics from the Balkans, on 2-3 May 2019, participated in the workshop titled “The yesterday, today, and the future of turkology in the Balkans”, which was organized by the University of Trakya at the Balkan Congress Center.
Among the many participants from Balkan countries, the University of Tetovo was represented by Prof. Dr. Adnan Ismaili, Head and Lecturer in the Department of Oriental Philology and Prof. Dr. Sulejman Baki, also a lecturer at the Department of Oriental Philology at the University of Tetova.
Among the many discussions and debates that took place, the UT professors were involved with their papers, talking about the studying of the Turkish language and literature at UT, and pointing to the new challenges and needs that appear for mutual recognition of languages, cultures and peoples.
The workshop was organized under the auspices of the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, and in cooperation with the Turkish Diaspora Institution (YTB) and the “Junus Emre” Institute.
The University of Tetova has a continuous and fruitful cooperation with the University of Trakya in Edirne.
During his stay in Turkey, the Head of the Oriental Philology branch, prof. Adnan Ismaili, has also held several other important meetings, such as with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey, prof. dr. Mustafa Shentop, the Deputy Minister of Culture and President of TIKA, Dr. Serdar Çam, and the Vice-President of the Party of Justice and Welfare (AK-Party), prof. dr. Numan Kurtulmush, with whom he also discussed about the possibilities of cooperation between UT and Turkey’s higher educational and scientific institutions.
