Today in Skopje, the 8th edition of the International Week of the Sustainable Development Goals began, which will last from February 23–27, 2026.

This activity started with welcome speeches from the leaders of the University “Cyril and Methodius”–Skopje, as well as the UN Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rita Columbia. The event was also attended by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, who on this occasion emphasized the importance of inter-university cooperation and the active involvement of academic institutions in development and international processes.

During the five days of the event, will be addressed important topics related to youth, sustainable development, gender equality, digital security, quality education, ethics, sports, social policies, and peace. Panelists and lecturers from prestigious European universities and institutions will contribute to the discussions, fostering international dialogue and the exchange of experiences.

The program also includes interactive activities aimed at engaging young people aged 16–35 in strategic planning and trend analysis for the country’s future, as well as practical sessions on how to apply for a career at the UN. The event will conclude with student discussions on the role of youth in building a more sustainable world, along with thematic lectures on social policies, employment, social innovation, and the agenda for peace and security.

This platform aims to strengthen the role of social sciences and humanities in addressing global challenges by promoting academic excellence and the active engagement of young people in the aforementioned processes.
