Today, at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the renowned American media scholar and professor John V. Pavlik gave a lecture on the topic: “The transformative role of Artificial intelligence (AI) in media and society”. This event was organized as part of the collaboration with the American Corner in Tetovo and the U.S. Embassy in North Macedonia.

John Pavlik, a professor of journalism and media studies at Rutgers University, the public university of New Jersey, is widely recognized for his research on the impact of emerging technologies on journalism and communication. He is the author of several books and articles on digital media, AI in journalism, and the evolution of storytelling in the digital age.

During the lecture, Professor Pavlik explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping journalism, digital storytelling, and the ethical landscape of modern media. He highlighted both the opportunities and challenges posed by AI, from the increase in content creation to concerns about disinformation and deepfakes. Additionally, he presented students and attendees with tools, devices, and new technological advancements that are shaping the future of media and communication.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions about the role of AI in communication and daily life. A key highlight of the event was a live demonstration by Pavlik of Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses with AI, showcasing their real-time information retrieval and augmented reality features.

By presenting the latest innovations and their implications, this lecture provided students with valuable insights into the intersection of technology, media, and society, fostering a deeper understanding of the future of AI-driven communication.

This event was part of a program in which the American Corner brings various lecturers and experts from America to the University of Tetova to exchange experiences and scientific achievements.
