The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Tetova marked today, November 28th, Independence Day of Albania, with a solemn academy. This date is one of the most important holidays for Albanians as it signifies the moment when they asserted their national identity and sovereignty.

The solemn academy in honor of this day was declared open by the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, he stated that the University of Tetova, through the commemoration of important dates in national history and culture, consistently and with dedication, conveys to students and through them to the Albanians in North Macedonia, the inspiration, ideas, and the just cause of all those generations for whom the Albanian name, the Albanian language, and Albanian education should be equal and enjoy due respect in the civilized world. ‘It is the duty of each of us to engage so that our tomorrow is better than today. To love, help, cooperate, and respect each other, regardless of differences, which should be priorities and not obstacles. Only in this way can we fulfill the legacy of our renaissance figures, for whom the state of Albania and the Albanians was the barometer and compass of their lives, as expressed in few words by the spirit, Isa Boletini: ‘I am well when Albania is well!” expressed Prof. Dr. Ibish Kadriu.

While the professor of the Department of history Doc. Dr. Albnora Musa said that for the Albanians this journey has not been easy and today more than every day we will have to remember and honor the sacrifice of all the patriots who gave their lives for the solution of the national issue, as an issue not easy at all. “November 28 is the most magnificent date in the entire history of the Albanian nation, this day contains a special symbolism for the Albanian nation. As is known, November 28, 1912, was not randomly for the Albanians. This date had a special significance because on November 28, 1443, Gjergj Kastriot – Skënderbeg, returned to Kruja, raising the national flag. This flag waved undefeated in the Castle of Kruja and in the towers of other Albanian castles for 25 years, as long as our hero led the people and Albania against the Ottoman invaders. It took 444 years of waiting and suffering, terror and slavery under that invader, as well as many exoduses and massive depopulation of our lands by the Albanian beings, until the anthem of the Flag of the Eagle started again. This flag had been revealed by the ‘encyclopedia in motion’ – the philosopher Faik Konica, until it waved in Vlora on November 28, 1912, by the hand of Ismail Qemali,” said Dr. Albnora Musa.

While the Student Parliament of the University of Tetova celebrated this day with numerous activities such as: activities with children organized by the Psychology Laboratory, recitations by students from the Faculty of Education and Philology, as well as artistic performances by students from the Faculty of Arts. The activities of the Student Parliament concluded with a football match involving students and faculty members of the University of Tetova.
