University of Tetova had the pleasure of welcoming the Fulbright professor from the United States, Prof. Siegel, who conducted an official visit and gave a lecture at the Faculty of Law of the UT.

During his visit, Professor Siegel was received in a meeting by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, and several professors from the Faculty of Law. In this meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation between the University of Tetova and American academic institutions were, with a focus on the exchange of experiences and the development of joint research projects in the fields of law and social sciences.

After the meeting with the Rector, Professor Siegel gave a lecture to the students of the Faculty of Law on the topic: “The Death Penalty in the USA in the 21st Century.” The topic generated great interest and was followed by several questions and discussions from the participants in the event. The lecture analytically addressed the history, practices, and current debates related to the death penalty in the American criminal justice system.

Although the death penalty is not implemented in European countries, it remains an issue that arouses curiosity and interest within the academic world and among legal professionals. Professor Siegel shared concrete examples and analyses with the attendees, raising important dilemmas about the future of criminal policies and the need for continuous reflection on the role of punishment in society.
