The Study Program of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tetova, in collaboration with the Psychology Program of the Faculty of Philosophy of “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University – Skopje, presented this month their findings on the sexual health and well-being of young people. This presentation marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Philosophy at “Ss. Cyril and Methodius University” – Skopje, and was based on data from the Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children (HBSC) Study 2021/2022 in the Republic of North Macedonia.
At the opening of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of interuniversity academic collaboration and the contribution of scientific research to advancing the health and well-being of young people. From the University of Tetova, participants included Vice-Rector for Education Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Neziri, Prof. Dr. Sheruze Osmani-Ballazhi, Prof. Dr. Luljeta Bexheti, Prof. Dr. Fitore Bajrami, Mr. Sc. Behare Kasami, Mr. Sc. Manushaqe Abdiu, as well as students from the Study Program of Psychology.
During the presentation, delivered by Prof. Dr. Sheruze Osmani-Ballazhi and Lina Qostarova-Unkovska, it was highlighted that young people’s behaviors, including aspects related to sexual health, are influenced by social norms and gender roles. In this context, the need for evidence-based approaches and well-structured educational interventions was underlined. Participants discussed the significance of the study’s findings and their implications for the development of policies and programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of children and adolescents.
