In the framework of a cultural project that is realized by the Cultural Center of North Macedonia in Istanbul, led by the director Doc. mr. Valmir Aziri, Graphic Design students of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Tetova, participated in several activities that included lectures on the heritage and cultural monuments in the Republic of Turkey of the Byzantine period, namely the Hagia Sophia Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and the Hippodrome, whose history was lectured by art histiorian Prof. Vlora Demiri

In this lecture, students were informed about the historical aspects and developments of this period and their current status, as well as the importance of cultural preservation and protection.

The agenda continued with a visit to ArtIstanbul Feshane, where our students had the opportunity to closely observe the exhibition “The Dynamic Eye: Beyond Optic and Kinetic Art,” a collection from TATE, London. The exhibition, curated by Valentina Ravaglia, is a highly significant cultural event featuring renowned artists such as Alexander Calder, Frank Stella, Victor Vasarely, Lygia Clark, Liliane Lijn, Julio Le Parc, Jesus Rafael Soto, Kenneth Noland, and Helio Oiticica.

With 95 artworks from 57 artists representing 21 countries, the exhibition unfolds the history of the optical and kinetic art movement, that started in the 1950s and 1960s. The activities of the second day of the aforementioned agenda concluded with a visit to the Packaging Factory “Koli Fabrikasi Istanbul,” where students were acquainted with the working process and had the opportunity to observe the packaging production process.

The study visit of UT students lasts for five days and is carried out by our country’s Cultural Information Center in Istanbul, which has ensured that the graphic design students attend various masterclasses and visit several cultural institutions.
