University of Tetova has reached an important milestone in strengthening its international profile by formalizing a program partnership with the Albanian-American Foundation within the framework of the project “America Inspires Freedom: The Kosovo Story”, part of the America250 initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.

This partnership grants the University of Tetova a distinctive academic role in North Macedonia, making it part of an international platform dedicated to documenting, analyzing, and promoting the historical, democratic, and strategic impact of the American partnership with Kosovo and the wider Western Balkans region.

The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Tetova and the Albanian-American Foundation, an official programming partner of America250 and the lead organization behind the project “America Inspires Freedom: The Kosovo Story”. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, and the America250 Project Director at the Albanian-American Foundation, Dr. Faton Bislimi.

Prior to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, a working meeting was held at the University of Tetova, during which the participants discussed the development of a structured partnership in the fields of higher education, scientific research, academic diplomacy, and internationally oriented public activities. The meeting was attended by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti; the Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ameti; the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Agon Memeti; the Head of the Office for Research and Applied Scientific Activities, MSc. Artina Kamberi; the Head of the Office for International Relations, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hatibe Deari-Zeqiri; as well as the America250 Project Director of the Albanian-American Foundation, Dr. Faton Bislimi, together with his associates.

As part of this partnership, the University of Tetova will assume not only a representative role but also a substantive one in shaping the academic and programmatic component of the project. The University’s contribution will focus on the development of a research program examining the historical and contemporary role of the United States of America in promoting democracy, strengthening institutions, enhancing regional security, advancing the rule of law, and supporting the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans.

This research program will be grounded in rigorous scientific methodology, empirical and comparative analysis, and measurable indicators to enrich the project through a verifiable academic dimension. In this way, the University of Tetova will contribute to the generation of scholarly knowledge that extends beyond the symbolic commemoration of a historic anniversary, transforming its participation into a research endeavor of lasting value for academic institutions, researchers, policymakers, and the broader regional public.

One of the principal pillars of the University of Tetova’s contribution will be the preparation and publication of a dedicated scholarly publication examining the impact of the United States’ strategic engagement on democratic and institutional developments in the region. The publication aims to provide a balanced and analytical perspective on the role of the United States in advancing peace, security, democracy, and transatlantic cooperation in the Western Balkans.
