Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti, today hosted the leaders of the Academy of Albanological Studies from the Republic of Albania, Rector Prof. Dr. Luan Përzhita and the Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Valter Memisha. In this working meeting where the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Agon Memeti, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Shefik Shehu and the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, it was discussed about the continuation of cooperation in the field of education and scientific research. Rector, Prof. Dr. Kushtrim Ahmeti expressed his consideration for the Academy of Albanological Studies, for the significant contribution and role for the development of higher education and scientific research, while he introduced the leaders of this Academy with the developments at the University of Tetova and the progress of the teaching-scientific process. He also singled out the Agreement signed some time ago between the University of Tetova and the Academy of Albanian Studies, which according to him should be expanded with other elements and forms of cooperation, that are in function of joint scientific projects, the opening of new programs, with special emphasis the opening of the study program of Archeology at the University of Tetova for undergraduate studies.
Meanwhile, Rector Luan Përzhita thanked the leadership of UT for the hospitality in this institution, which according to him is an emblem of higher education in the Albanian language for the Albanians of the Republic of North Macedonia and beyond. In the capacity of the head of the Academy of Albanological Studies, he expressed his willingness not only to cooperate in various projects, but also to help the University of Tetova with lecturers who would engage in teaching in the Archeology study program. He stated that their institution prioritizes scientific research, but also studies in the second cycle and the third cycle, not overlooking a multitude of projects carried out with institutions, well-known universities and joint international programs.
Rector Përzhita, among other things, stated that, in the framework of the exchange of university staff, each of your lecturers can consider our institution as their own home, libraries, and offices, facilities for research, initiatives and important projects.
The Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Valter Memisha and the dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani referred to the work being done in the publication of the Great Dictionary of the Albanian language, of the publication “Syntax variation in Albanian speech: features and treva” – Preparation for the Atlas of Albanian Dialectal Syntax (Fjalorit të Madh të gjuhës shqipe “Variacioni sintaksor në të folmet e shqipes: tipare dhe treva”- Përgatitje për Atlasin e Sintaksës Dialektore të Shqipes) and the successful collaboration over the years in the sessions of the International Seminar of Albanology organized by the University of Tetova.
Today’s visit of the leaders of the Academy of Albanological Studies in UT reconfirmed the commitment of the representatives of these institutions to continue in the future the cooperation in academic fields of common interest, the exchange of academic staff, researchers and students in the framework of research activities – scientific; as well as the exchange of scientific literature; research of archives and libraries.
