Director of the Public Institution Shar Mountain National Park, Mr. Evzal Elmazi, accompanied by his associates Altin Idrizi and Valide Kamberi, as well as Prof. Dr. Besnik Rexhepi, paid a working visit to the leadership of the University of Tetova, consisting of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Salajdin Salihi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Florim Idrizi.

Within the framework of this visit, a memorandum of cooperation was signed, aiming to strengthen institutional cooperation between the Public Institution Shar Mountain National Park and the University of Tetova through the development of joint academic, professional, research, developmental, and educational activities that contribute to nature conservation, sustainable development, and the advancement of scientific knowledge. The key points on which this memorandum is based include enhancing the professional capacities of both institutions; organizing joint activities in the fields of environment, biology, ecology, forestry, mountain tourism, spatial planning, and other relevant areas; promoting sustainable practices and efficient management of natural resources; as well as developing joint education, research, and innovation programs.

This cooperation will also be beneficial for students, who will have the opportunity to complete their professional internships. In addition, study visits, research expeditions, and field monitoring activities will be organized. Among the key points will also be the organization of joint seminars, conferences, and workshops on issues related to the environment, sustainable development, and biodiversity conservation. The engagement of experts from the Public Institution Shar Mountain National Park as external lecturers at the University of Tetovo, and vice versa, is also envisaged.

This agreement will also include cooperation within EU programs such as IPA, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, as well as other donor-funded programs; the drafting of joint environmental education campaigns for pupils, students, and the local community; and the organization of activities marking Earth Day, Forest Day, Biodiversity Day, and similar events.

This memorandum of cooperation represents an important step toward strengthening the link between academic knowledge and the protection of natural heritage. University of Tetova and the Public Institution Shar Mountain National Park will jointly contribute to the implementation of the memorandum’s provisions, creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and the local community.
