Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, welcomed the attendees. He said that the event that we are marking today is a very special event for him and for the University of Tetova because today we award the decisions for the specialization of health professionals and associates with higher education in the field of medicine. “Specializations in medical sciences are an important step for our University because these specialized medical programs enable all health workers to open new career paths in professional and academic terms. Since medicine encompasses various study programs and specialties, offering these specialized programs ensures that doctors have the opportunity to pursue their specific areas of interest. Specializations address the evolving and complex needs of the healthcare sector. By focusing on specific medical disciplines, our University will better prepare future health care professionals to address diverse health challenges, improve patient care, and contribute meaningfully to their respective fields. Specialized study programs contribute significantly to the advancement of medical knowledge and expertise. They enable doctors to delve deeper into specific areas of research and innovation, leading to discoveries, advances and improved medical practices. We are very happy that the University of Tetova is now part of the universities that offer a wide range of specialized medical programs because in this way we will create collaborations and partnerships with healthcare institutions, research centers and industry experts. These partnerships can lead to opportunities for practical work, as well as opportunities to join various research projects. Essentially, through specialized medical programs, we as a University enhance our academic standing, accelerate research and innovation, create partnerships, and meet the specific needs and interests of students pursuing their careers in medicine”- said the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli.

Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Fatmir Mexhiti expressed that he is satisfied with the fact that this is the first generation of specialists at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Tetovo and according to him, all these young doctors, who will continue their professional development in this institution of higher education, will strengthen the capacities of our health system in the future. “Continuous professional improvement is essential for health care workers and for this very reason the Ministry of Health its devoted to this field. With the program for specializations and subspecializations, which the Ministry approves on an annual basis, for this year only for the University of Tetova, a total of 25 specializations have been awarded for public health institutions, as well as 34 for private health institutions. It is about many medical fields and I am especially happy that among them there are deficient fields such as pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, cardiology, as well as specializations in the field of general surgery, internal medicine and others. Also, today, will be shared 40 indexes for the second cycle of specializations in other medical activities. It is a great honor that during my time as minister, for the first time in history, in this faculty were opened specializations. I will continue to invest in new staff, in order to keep you here, near your hometown. I’m here behind you, cheering you on and pushing you forward!”- said the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Fatmir Mexhiti.

Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Elezi said that the aim of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Teaching-Scientific Council is that the University of Tetova, together with the Clinical Hospital of Tetova, in the very short future, with the help of the minister, found the university hospital. He also requested that, together with the professors and doctors and the Teaching-Scientific Council of the UT, to expand our requirements in other study programs of specialization, such as the study program of dentistry.
