With a solemn ceremony, the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tetova marked November 28th – Flag and Independence Day. This day commemorates not only the declaration of independence, but also the countless sacrifices of our heroes and martyrs who fought for the freedom and dignity of the Albanian people.

The Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, expressed that he feels proud of the overall activities being carried out by the University of Tetova and the fact that it is precisely in Tetovo where the figures of one of the ministers of the Second November, Ismail Qemali, and the Deralla family are placed, who give life and soul to this institution. “Certainly, we can state that here at the University of Tetova, we give speeches, but we also keep our word. I am convinced that our history professors (even though I come from the field of law and have little knowledge of history) will speak about the battles of Skanderbeg, the First November, the Second November, and about the raising of the National Flag with such pride by the wisest leader we ever had, Ismail Qemali, along with his collaborators, in Vlora. Dear guests, with your permission, considering that the University of Tetova, in this three-decade period, on the eve of the great celebration we are experiencing, has marked many achievements, we can freely say that the University of Tetova is commemorating and celebrating the Third November,” said the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli.

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Ibish Kadriu, said that November 28th – Flag and Independence Day of Albania is a great celebration for all of us, as great as the founding of this University. “Under the umbrella of the commemoration of the jubilee year – the 30th anniversary of UT, today we are also celebrating Flag Day. On this important day, I would like to emphasize that only education will move our entire nation forward. I am proud of the new generations, of the scientific collaborations that make the administrative borders between Albanians invisible, and here the University of Tetova plays an important role, which continuously, through conferences, symposiums, and scientific journals, serves as a connecting bridge for all Albanians to correct historical mistakes. Now is the time of the pen and the notebook, so from here, I would like to send the message for more dedication to science, reading, and education, because this is the only path that unites all Albanians to achieve our common aspirations”, said the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Ibish Kadriu.

Senija Etemi, a student from the first generation of the Department of History at the University of Tetova, recalled her memories from her time as a student, highlighting their collective efforts for education, culture, and progress. “A special emotion for me as a student of the first generation of the University of Tetova, that today I am in the building of the institution which now meets all the standards of a modern university. This institution gave me knowledge, culture, and insights, which I now pass on with great care and dedication to our dearest ones, the children. This temple of knowledge was founded at a time when our rights to higher education in the Albanian language were denied. It was a historic moment, an act of courage and vision that was led thanks to the dedication of several determined intellectuals, guided by the founder, now the late, Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani”, said the first-generation student of the UT, Senija Etemi.

At the conclusion of this event, former student Flutura Mihalica performed a monologue about November 28, while later, students from the Faculty of Arts, Florentina Abazi and Abdulla Xhaferi, presented an artistic piece.

On the eve of the November celebrations, a film week was also organized by the Student Parliament of the University of Tetova, during which, in the amphitheater “Abdylselam Emini”, the film “The Second November” was shown today, directed by Viktor Gjika.
