On the occasion of the 249th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Tetova, in cooperation with the American Corner in Tetovo, organized the Beach Volleyball Tournament, an international sporting event.
The tournament brought together teams and athletes from the country and the region, including Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Serbia, and North Macedonia, who created a festive and dynamic atmosphere throughout the competition.
Through this activity, were promoted universal values of sport, such as respect, friendship, cooperation, and freedom—values that align with the spirit of U.S. Independence Day.
The tournament was officially opened with a welcoming speech by the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, who emphasized the role of sports as a bridge between nations and the importance of international cooperation in building lasting friendships.
After several exciting matches, trophies were awarded to the top three teams: First place went to the team from the Republic of Kosovo, which defeated the team from the Republic of Serbia in the final with a score of 2:0 in sets. Second place was claimed by the Serbian team, while third place went to the team from the Republic of Bulgaria, which triumphed 2:1 over the team from the University of Tetova. During this sports event, awards and certificates of appreciation were also presented to the winners, referees, and delegates for their contribution and fairness throughout the competition.
At the closing of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Prof. Dr. Shpresa Memishi, thanked all participating teams for their sportsmanship and mutual respect shown during the tournament. She highlighted that the purpose of this activity was to celebrate U.S. Independence Day through sports and to convey the message that celebration, sports, and friendship are bridges that unite us.
