At the Conference of the Balkan Universities Association, which this year was held at the University of Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the University of Tetova was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Agon Memeti and Vice-Rector for Finance, Prof. Dr. Faton Shabani.
“Academic cooperation, future challenges and perspectives in the Balkans” was the central topic of this conference, in which discussed the rectors of many member universities of the Balkan Universities Association. In the framework of this conference, the panel was held on the topic “Internationalization in the Universities of the Balkans, potentials and challenges”, in which was part of it the Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dr. Agon Memeti. On this occasion, it was said that the internationalization of universities, as a multifaceted process, which includes academic mobility, curriculum development, research collaboration and cultural exchange, as an increasingly central aspect of higher education worldwide. It represents not only an opportunity for academic institutions to increase their global standing, but also a means to foster intercultural dialogue and understanding.
Vice-Rectors from several universities in the region discussed various initiatives and strategies undertaken by Balkan universities to internationalize their campuses. Also, were discussed the challenges they face, ranging from limited resources and infrastructure to preserving cultural identities and aligning academic systems with global standards. The aim was to foster a constructive and in-depth conversation that can contribute to the continued development of higher education in the Balkans and illuminate possible paths forward. During the conference, was also updated the cooperation agreement between UT and the Trakya University.
As a sign of respect for the cooperation over the years, Rector Prof. Dr. Jusuf Zejneli, to the host of the conference, Rector Prof. Dr. Nermina Hadzigrahic, at the same time the President of the BUA, bestowed the portrait of Prof. Dr. Fadil Sulejmani, the Monograph and some special issues of journals of academic units at UT.
