At the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës, on 10 June 2019, was held the International Scientific Conference on “Development of Albanian Literature in the years 1945 – 1990”. A coordinator of this conference was also the University of Tetova, namely the Department of Albanian Language and Literature.
The Dean of the Faculty of Philology of UT, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, at the solemn opening of this conference, said that such summits and partnerships in the searching front of inter Albanian-cultural co-operation are of paramount importance because they unite forces and achievements of our scientific results in the field of philology. “It is a common merit and obligation to build bridges not only in the field of sciences, but also in the philological field, but let us remind ourselves that these initiatives should serve us to discuss the possibilities of increasing the exchange of our professors and students,” said Prof.Dr. Berton Sulejmani.
The Dean of UT further emphasized that, as a linguist, I must tell you that in Albanian language in general, particularly in the Albanian dialectology there have been achieved tremendous results. “There have been conducted studies for all dialects in Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Preseve and Bujanovce, as well as the Albanian Diaspora dialects. After World War II, on Albanian dialects of Albanian territories in Macedonia (today North Macedonia) have been written over 40 sketches and dialectical monographs which are not included in the context of Albanian dialectology. Why is this happening? Such an initiative by this time should have been accomplished. I am not saying that everything that has been published and is being published should be included, but it is time to discuss the scientific level of these studies and other Albanian studies and the need for rewriting them, why not even rewrite them by joint commissions “, said the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani.
This scientific gathering also was welcomed by the Vice- Rector of “Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Prof. Dr. Lekë Sokoli, who talked about the importance of the literature development of this period, citing the fact that literature is of particular importance to other disciplines as well.
From the Department of Albanian Language and Literature, with scientific papers participated: Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sulejmani, Prof. Dr. Izmit Durmishi, Prof. Dr. Berton Sulejmani, Prof. Dr. Zarije Nuredini, Mr. Sc. Vjollca Berisha, Dr. Sc. Esmije Vejseli and Doc. Dr. Arlind Farizi.
