On December 5, 2019, a group of students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Tetova, under the leadership of the Prof. Dr. Arta Bilalli – Zendeli, Prof. Dr. Afet Mamuti, Asst. Prof. Dr. Shpresa Halimi and Prof. Dr. Qebir Avziu, participated in the annual competitions held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Štip. These competitions were supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in our country, where students simulate a real case that occurred in criminal case law.
Professor Arta Bilalli – Zendeli was very pleased with the appearance of our University students in these competitions, as these competitions reflect students’ knowledge of criminal procedure law and aim at empowering young people to exercise basic procedural functions, such as: the judge, the public prosecutor and the lawyer. “This year we have simulated a murder case, which is dealt with under Article 123 paragraph 1, point 1 of the Criminal Code of RNM. These competitions were attended by a total of 12 students, who we helped immensely in their preparation. In the “Days of Simulated Trial” competitions, students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Tetova, won the first 3 individual awards out of 6 and the second place in a competition between 4 Faculties of Law of the State Universities of North Macedonia.Student Mevlude Emini was selected as the best judge, student Antonija Serafimovska the best prosecutor and student Arijan Bajrami as the best defendant. While the other three awards were awarded to the University of Skopje (the best expert), to the University of Bitola (the best witness) and to the University of Štip (the best lawyer)”, – said Prof.Dr. Arta Bilalli – Zendeli.
Evaluators of student sessions were: Prosecutor Fatime Fetai, Judge Betim Yahya from the Primary Court – Tetovo, and lawyer Suzana Joshevska from Skopje. Even years ago in these competitions the students of the Faculty of Law of our University, have managed to win several awards, such as in 2017 the first prize, and in 2018 the second prize.
